Runway Overrun at Miami: What Happened and Why It Matters
A cargo plane went off the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday. The Boeing 767-300 was operating as 21 Air for Amazon Prime Air and it had come from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The plane struck several vehicles on a road near the airport and caught fire. Five people died and five others were injured. More than sixty Miami‑Dade Fire Rescue units went to the scene and found heavy flames and smoke. The Federal Aviation Administration said it will investigate, and airport runways were closed for hours. Emergency crews removed people from cars and took the injured to hospitals.
