Supporters Scammed: The Guo Wengui Fraud Case

Guo Wengui, a Chinese businessman known also as Miles Guo, was sentenced to 30 years in a U.S. federal prison. The judge in Manhattan said he harmed many supporters and ordered him to forfeit $889 million in restitution.

Guo was convicted of several fraud charges after a long trial. Prosecutors said he used supporters' money to buy mansions, a yacht, and a Bugatti. He fled China and became a vocal critic of the Communist Party while living in New York. He also built ties with some U.S. conservatives, including political adviser Steve Bannon.
