Supporters Scammed: The Guo Wengui Fraud Case
Guo Wengui, a Chinese businessman known also as Miles Guo, was sentenced to 30 years in a U.S. federal prison. The judge in Manhattan said he harmed many supporters and ordered him to forfeit $889 million in restitution.
Guo was convicted of several fraud charges after a long trial. Prosecutors said he used supporters' money to buy mansions, a yacht, and a Bugatti. He fled China and became a vocal critic of the Communist Party while living in New York. He also built ties with some U.S. conservatives, including political adviser Steve Bannon. The sentence was handed down on June 29, 2026.
