Daytime Hosts Defend Free Speech After Late‑Night Suspension

ABC, which is owned by Disney, paused Kimmel's late night show and some local stations also stopped airing it. Nexstar, a big owner of local stations, said it would preempt the program for the foreseeable future. ABC later said it wanted to avoid more public tension.
