Blue Origin setback and NASA’s lunar plans

Blue Origin launched its New Glenn rocket on April 19, 2026, from Cape Canaveral. The rocket's booster landed safely, and people watched the flight live. Later the company said the satellite did not reach the right orbit.

AST SpaceMobile's satellite BlueBird 7 powered on but was in a lower orbit and will be deorbited. The satellite had a very large antenna for phone service. The FAA has ordered an investigation and New Glenn launches are grounded. AST said the cost is expected to be recovered by insurance. Blue Origin will work with the FAA to find the cause.
