What to know about the Clear Eyes eye-drop recall

Prestige Consumer Healthcare has voluntarily recalled 39,060 bottles of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief after the company said it could not assure sterility. The recall was initiated on July 29, 2026, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration later classified the action as a Class II recall on August 14, 2026. The affected bottles are 15 mL with lot code 2552A and an expiration date of September 30, 2027. The product was distributed nationwide.

Officials advise that consumers stop using any bottle from the recalled lot. If you have the affected bottle, return it to the place of purchase for a refund or dispose of it safely, and contact a pharmacist or doctor if you have health concerns. While no injuries have been reported, the recall has drawn attention to recent sterility problems at some eye-drop manufacturers, and therefore retailers removed the lot from sale until it was cleared. The recall number is D-0766-2026. Retailers that sold the product included Walmart, Target, Kroger and Dollar General. If you are unsure, check the lot code on the bottle or the box before use.
