Judge Dismisses WhatsApp Whistleblower Retaliation Claims

Attaullah Baig was the head of security at WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by Meta. He said he found security problems and he raised them to his managers. WhatsApp is used by billions of people around the world. Baig said many engineers could view user data without clear controls. He later filed a complaint with U.S. regulators and then sued the company.

In March 2026 a judge dismissed his retaliation claims. The judge said Baig did not show enough facts to prove he was fired for reporting problems. Baig said he filed an OSHA complaint in January 2025 and was fired the next month. The judge dismissed the claims without prejudice.
