Intel and Apple: Talks About Investment and Supply-Chain Choices
Intel has asked Apple about a possible investment. Intel is a large chipmaker in the United States. Apple makes iPhones and Mac computers. The talks are at an early stage and may not lead to a deal.
Intel’s shares rose after the news. The company has also taken money from Nvidia and SoftBank. The U.S. government holds about a 10% stake in Intel. Apple now uses its own chips and TSMC makes those chips, so a new deal might focus on factories or cooperation. Intel's new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, is looking for partners to help the company grow. Apple stopped using Intel chips for Macs in 2020 and began using its own designs.
