DOJ Finds Race Bias in Yale Medical School Admissions

The Justice Department said on May 14, 2026 that it found discrimination in admissions at the Yale School of Medicine. The investigation lasted about one year. It found that Black and Hispanic applicants had a higher chance of admission than White or Asian applicants with similar test scores and grade-point averages.

The department said it will seek a voluntary agreement but may take legal action if Yale does not comply. Yale said the School of Medicine is confident in its admissions process and will review the department’s letter. Other medical schools have faced similar scrutiny this month.
