📖 Article

President Donald Trump made a change in June 2025. He ordered a pause on immigration raids at farms, hotels and restaurants after business leaders said they were losing long-time workers. The pause came from an internal ICE memo and then a public statement. Many people worried that fewer immigrant workers would make it hard to fill jobs and raise costs.

A few days later the pause was reversed. The Department of Homeland Security told agents to continue worksite enforcement and said there would be no safe spaces for industries. Economists and think tanks warned that tighter immigration rules are shrinking the labor force and could slow economic growth. Large protests happened in Los Angeles after the raids.
