Interlochen and the review of old abuse reports

Interlochen Center for the Arts has engaged the Sanghavi Law Office to conduct an external review of historical reports of sexual misconduct. The reports involve former faculty who taught in the 1960s and 1970s, and the investigators have been interviewing alumni and other witnesses. Although many accounts are decades old, the school has said it is gathering information and offering support to people who come forward.

While the Justice Department files renewed public attention to Jeffrey Epstein’s past donations and visits, Interlochen has invited people who say they met Epstein to speak with the independent investigator. The Interlochen board has also approved a plan to remove the Green Lake Lodge that once carried Epstein’s name. Therefore, the campus is changing both physically and administratively as the review continues. Furthermore, the investigation has been described as trauma-informed and meant to be comprehensive, and the school says it wants to listen with care. The inquiry began in April 2024, and the firm was retained after review by the board. Local and national outlets have reported the Justice Department files and the school's response, which has increased calls for transparency and care for survivors.
