CBS Ends Radio Service as Newsroom Restructures
CBS News will end its radio news service on May 22, 2026. The radio unit provides material to about 700 stations across the country and is nearly 100 years old. Many stations used the top-of-the-hour news roundups and the long-running program World News Roundup, which first aired in 1938.
Editor-in-chief Bari Weiss announced the change to staff. The shutdown comes as CBS cut about 6% of its workforce, or more than 60 people. The radio team’s positions are being eliminated, and affiliates will stop receiving the network’s news feeds after the May date.
