Why People Are Cooler About A.I. Than Tech Leaders Expect

People hear a lot about artificial intelligence, but many feel worried, not excited. Surveys show most adults are more concerned than excited about AI and many worry it will cost jobs. This feeling is strong in several rich countries, and some people say they do not trust big companies to use AI fairly.

Tech leaders still build and test AI tools, and investors put large amounts of money into AI startups. At work, more people use AI now, but use is uneven. Some companies see gains while others find little change in productivity. Because of these mixed results, public interest in AI is smaller than the early internet boom.
