Egg freezing has become more common in recent years; UCLA researchers reported a near quadrupling of elective cycles from 2014 to 2021. However, experts and recent studies have warned that the procedure is not a guarantee of future pregnancy. A 2022 NYU Langone study found an overall live birth rate of around 39 percent from frozen eggs, and clinics say success depends heavily on a patient's age and number of eggs frozen. Since the procedure can be expensive and outcomes vary, doctors encourage patients to consider timing and expectations before proceeding. The announcement also drew quick political reactions: some praised her openness while others criticized the timing.
