PE Guy: The Viral Satire of Private Equity
Johnny Hilbrant Partridge is a Boston fitness instructor who has become known for the PE Guy character he first posted in March 2025. He uses a Snapchat filter and an exaggerated voice to lampoon private equity culture and the finance 'bro' archetype. The first videos grew quickly; his Instagram follower count went from a few thousand to about two hundred thousand within months.
Merchandise such as hats with the phrases 'Due To My Role' and 'Decent' has been sold out repeatedly, and paid Cameo videos can cost up to $400. He has been hired for corporate events and brand collaborations, and some private equity firms have even approached him about fundraising. Because of these opportunities, he is on track to earn more than half a million dollars this year. Furthermore, he has launched a podcast called Due To My Role, which features interviews and comedy in two parts. However, he still teaches classes at Barry's and SoulCycle while he balances content work and live appearances. The character has been covered widely and is often liked even by finance professionals who recognize the joke.
