A big measles outbreak is happening in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The outbreak started in late 2025 and grew fast in early 2026. Many children and adults got sick. Measles is a very contagious virus. It spreads when a sick person coughs or sneezes.

Vaccination protects people from measles. In one local school only 21 percent of students had the required shots. Low vaccination in some schools helped the virus spread. Health teams gave many extra MMR shots and asked people to check their records. Some parents later chose to vaccinate their children. Quarantine rules kept exposed students at home for three weeks.
