Idaho case: Mother indicted after twin deaths

A Payette County grand jury returned an indictment on June 29, 2026, charging Andrea Shaw with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her 18-month-old twins. Prosecutors allege the children were suffocated in May 2025; police found the twins unresponsive in a shared bed on May 1, 2025. Shaw was arrested on June 30, 2026, and she is being held on a $2 million bond while the case proceeds. She could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.

Shaw and her husband spoke days after the deaths on a program produced by Children’s Health Defense, and Shaw later became a plaintiff in a federal lawsuit filed in January 2026 that challenges the pediatric vaccine schedule. Court documents filed in that suit say the twins received hepatitis A, influenza and DTaP vaccines in April 2025 and later became ill, a claim Shaw’s legal team has repeated. Medical experts and prosecutors have not linked routine vaccines to the deaths in public filings, and the indictment centers on the suffocation allegation. Shaw’s attorney wrote that she denies the charges, and she will return to court on July 14, 2026.
