Finding Belonging: South Asian Life at Princeton

Many students from South Asia study at Princeton University. About 27% of students identify as Asian American. The South Asian Students Association, known as SASA, is open to all Princeton students. Some students spend a Bridge Year in India before classes begin.

On campus, students join cultural and religious groups for support and friendship. Groups include dance teams, the Princeton Hindu Satsangam, and the Muslim Students Association. These groups help students find belonging and talk about identity. Campus events bring speakers and conversations about law, citizenship, and identity. Students sometimes face hard questions about who they are, and clubs give them space to share.
